In case you did not hear about the success we had at the Lake County Fair, August 28 - 31, 2003, our garden "Jardin del Patio" won a first prize and best of show.  There is a picture of it on our web site.  Congratulations to all who worked on this very worthwhile project!

At our first meeting in September Lori Wilcox gave us a demonstration on how to make a lavender wand.  She also told us the best kinds of lavender to grow to make the wands and some tips on how to grow lavender. She will probably be giving a workshop on how to make the various lavender filled pillows and wands at her home next year when the lavender is in bloom.

On September 26th five members, Mary Secord, Nora Gerrard, Lynn Hughs, Jo Jameson and Barbara Fain met at the Hartley Cemetary Chapel .  They did a lot of pruning of  shrubbery and general clean up which was very much needed.  Les, the Maintenance Superintendent, had already cleared out some dead shrubbery and trees for us. Thanks ladies for all the hard work.

Adult Respite met at the St. Johns Church in Lucerne on October 2, 2003.  Marilyn Crayton, Nora Gerrard and Nora's daughter-in-law Carol Lee helped 12 members of the day care make some very nice dried flower arrangements.  They also made two fresh flower arrangements for the room with some donated flowers.  Those who participated seemed to have a good time.

Our October 21st meeting will feature a display of dried flower arrangements by our Lake Ka-Ba-Tin Redbud Arrangers
